From 2018 to 2022, the University of Virginia Transplant Center maintained a stable waiting list of approximately 600 patients. However, since 2023, the number of patients on the waiting list has grown, reaching 750 by 2025. Although the number of cadaveric transplants increased in 2019, it has not kept pace with the rising demand.
