The University of Chicago Medical Center currently maintains a kidney transplant waiting list of approximately 600 patients. Since 2020, the center has experienced a substantial increase in cadaveric kidney transplant volumes. In 2024, the supply of cadaveric kidneys closely aligned with demand, enabling the center to successfully transplant half of its waitlisted patients.
