Ascension St. John Kidney Transplant Specialty Center is a low-volume transplant center, averaging fewer than 30 cadaveric kidney transplants annually over the past decade, while maintaining a waiting list of over 300 patients. The waitlist decreased from 300 patients in 2014 to 200 in 2024; however, this reduction was primarily due to patients being removed from the list as their health deteriorated during the prolonged wait.
