Over the past decade, the kidney transplant waiting list at the Medical University of South Carolina Transplant Center has grown substantially, increasing from approximately 730 patients in 2014 to 1,200 in 2024. During this period, the center has averaged around 300 cadaveric kidney transplants annually. In 2024, only 22% of patients on the waiting list received a cadaveric transplant.
