The UC Irvine Health Division of Transplantation has more than doubled its kidney transplant volume since 2021. However, the waiting list continues to significantly exceed the number of deceased donor kidneys allocated by designated Organ Procurement Organizations. In 2024, the center achieved a record year, with 187 of patients receiving a cadaveric transplant—marking the highest rate in the center’s history.
