Halifax Healthis still operating its kidney transplant program, but the number of transplants has dropped. The center performed its highest number of deceased-donor transplants in 2020, with 25 cases. In 2025, only 8 deceased-donor kidney transplants were completed, even though about 80 patients were waiting. Earlier SRTR data also showed that Halifax's transplant rate has stayed low, usually between 8 and 16 each year. The center often relies on UF Health for transplant surgeons, and in late 2025, UF Health was looking to hire an abdominal transplant surgeon for Halifax.
