Over the past decade, Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital has experienced a significant decline in its kidney transplant waiting list, decreasing from over 700 patients in 2014 to under 500 in 2024. However, this reduction is largely attributed to patients being removed from the list due to medical deterioration during the prolonged wait. Despite performing an average of fewer than 50 cadaveric kidney transplants annually, the center's transplant volume has not kept pace with the demand. In 2023 and 2024, the cadaveric transplant volume doubled to 100, offering renewed hope to patients on the list.
