Over the past four years, the University of Carolina Transplant Center has experienced a substantial increase in patient volume, with the waiting list growing from 600 to over 1,000 patients. Despite this rise in demand, the center’s cadaveric kidney transplant volume has remained steady at approximately 100 transplants per year. In 2024, just 14% of waitlisted patients received a cadaveric transplant.
